I didn't start as a traditional programmer.

My journey into building business applications started with something much simpler: Excel.

During COVID, the company I was working with relied heavily on Excel to manage information and daily operations. Excel was useful, but as the processes became more complicated, I started thinking there had to be a better way.

I began asking myself:

What if we could turn these spreadsheets into an actual application?

That question eventually led me to AppSheet.

How I Discovered AppSheet

When I started exploring AppSheet, I wasn't coming from a traditional programming background.

I learned by building.

I would create an app, test it, find something that needed improvement, fix it, and then build the next feature. Over time, I became much more comfortable with AppSheet and learned how to turn business processes into practical applications.

What started as a way to improve an Excel-based workflow eventually became a career in building business applications.

I've now been working with AppSheet for more than five years.

From Learning to Building Real Apps

Eventually, AppSheet became more than something I was learning for myself.

I started building real applications for clients.

I've built multiple applications for different business needs, and every project has taught me something new.

Some businesses need inventory management. Others need sales tracking, technician tracking, approvals, reporting, customer management, or completely customized workflows.

That's one of the things I enjoy about AppSheet.

You can build an application around the way a business actually works.

Working on real client projects also taught me that building an application isn't just about making screens and buttons.

You have to understand the workflow.

You have to understand what users actually need.

And you have to keep improving the application when real people start using it.

Becoming an AppSheet Expert

After more than five years of building applications, working through different business requirements, and solving real-world problems, AppSheet has become one of my main areas of expertise.

I wouldn't describe myself as a traditional programmer.

I'm an AppSheet expert who learned by building real solutions.

That distinction is important to me.

My experience comes from actually creating applications, troubleshooting them, improving them, and adapting them to the needs of real businesses.

Sharing What I Learn on YouTube

As I continued building applications, I also started sharing what I was learning on YouTube.

My YouTube channel, Joe Tayactac, focuses on practical AppSheet development.

I create tutorials, demonstrate how applications are built, explain solutions, and share ideas that can help other people create their own business applications.

The goal is simple:

If something I learned can help someone else solve a problem, I want to share it.

Over time, I've also noticed that certain questions come up again and again.

And one of the biggest ones is about POS systems.

Why Everyone Keeps Asking About POS

When people talk about business applications, POS and inventory are two of the most common requirements I come across.

People ask:

The answer is that AppSheet can be used to build many of these solutions.

I've built POS-related applications and understand how much work goes into making them useful in a real business environment.

A POS might look simple from the outside, but once you start building one, there are many details to consider.

Inventory, sales, payments, receipts, barcode scanning, users, reports, and daily workflows all need to work together.

Why I Created GoOnlinePOS

After seeing how often people were looking for a simple POS, I started thinking about another approach.

Not everyone wants to build their own application.

A business owner might not want to spend weeks creating tables, configuring workflows, building automations, testing expressions, and maintaining an app.

Sometimes they simply want to open a POS and start selling.

That's where GoOnlinePOS came from.

I wanted to create a practical POS that could be used without requiring the business owner to become an AppSheet developer.

The idea is simple:

Open it. Add your products. Start selling.

GoOnlinePOS includes features such as inventory management, barcode scanning, sales tracking, payment handling, receipt printing, multiple cashier support, sales history, and offline functionality.

The goal is to make POS software straightforward and accessible for small businesses.

From One Excel File to GoOnlinePOS

When I look back at the journey, it's interesting how everything connected.

It started with Excel during COVID.

Then I started looking for a better way to manage business processes.

That led me to AppSheet.

I learned by building.

Then I started building multiple real applications for clients.

I shared what I learned through my YouTube channel.

People kept asking about POS, inventory, and other business systems.

And eventually, those experiences led to GoOnlinePOS.

It wasn't something I planned from the beginning.

It grew naturally from years of solving business problems and building applications.

I'm Still Building

More than five years after discovering AppSheet, I'm still building and learning.

I've built multiple applications for clients, continue to create AppSheet tutorials through Joe Tayactac on YouTube, and continue developing GoOnlinePOS.

Every project brings a different challenge.

That's what keeps it interesting.

I may not have started as a traditional programmer, but I became an AppSheet expert by doing something I believe is more important:

building real solutions for real problems.

And that's ultimately what GoOnlinePOS represents.

It comes from years of working with business processes, building applications, listening to what people actually need, and trying to make things simpler.
